Things to do at Back of Beyond

The most important thing to do at Back of Beyond is relax!

Walking

Back of Beyond is ideal for gentle walks. There are 18 acres of unspoilt woodland for you to enjoy. Dogs can run off the lead in the woodland and keep cool in the shade when it’s hot.

Alternatively, take a wander round our beautiful wildlife lakes in the designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. (Dogs are not allowed in this area).

Nine-hole Pitch & Putt course

Our Pitch & Putt course is almost 1/2 mile long from the first to the ninth hole. Rabbit holes and mole hills are all part of the fun!  You can hire golf clubs and golf balls from Reception. The small fee goes to a local charity.

Pétanque or boules

The Pétanque pitch is free to use and has recently been re-made.  The balls are available at Reception.

DVD and book library

You’ll find DVDs and books to borrow in the Information Hut near the entrance. Please feel free to leave donations too!

Stargazing

Our park gets dark at night, so when there are no clouds it’s a great place to look up at the sky and watch the stars and planets slowly move across. Sometimes satellites and shooting stars are visible too. Even better, have a real fire to sit beside by hiring one of our safe fire pits.

Horse riding

There’s a great riding centre on our lane. For information, please see the horse riding page.

Fishing

If you have a rod license you can try fishing in the River Moors which borders our park or in our wildlife lakes. As this area is a nature reserve, however, please be aware that natural predators may well have got there before you! Read more about local fishing.
